Consoles in Lahore

Buying consoles second-hand

Ask about the account before you ask about the hardware. A console sold with games attached to the seller's account is a console whose games stop working the moment they change their password, and this is the most common way people get burned buying second-hand. The hardware should be fully reset and signed out, and any physical discs should be in the box.

On the hardware itself, the disc drive and the cooling are what fail. A drive that grinds or fails to pull a disc in is expensive to replace; a console that has never been opened and cleaned will be running loud and hot. Check the region and the model revision too — some accessories and some discs are not interchangeable between regions.

What to check before you pay

  • Confirm the console has been factory reset and signed out of every account.
  • Test the disc drive with a disc you brought, both loading and ejecting.
  • Listen to the fan under load — a roaring console is a dusty or repasted-overdue one.
  • Check the model revision and region, and that any controllers charge and hold a charge.
