Handhelds in Lahore
Buying handhelds second-hand
Stick drift is the defining fault of this category. A handheld whose analogue stick registers movement when nobody is touching it will drift in every game, and it develops gradually, so a seller may honestly believe it is fine. Every handheld has a built-in controller test screen — use it, and leave the sticks untouched for a while to see whether anything moves on its own.
Battery wear is the second thing. These devices charge and discharge daily and a two-year-old unit may hold well under its original capacity, which turns a three-hour device into a ninety-minute one. Also check the card reader, which is a common failure point, and whether the screen has scratches under whatever protector is fitted.
What to check before you pay
- Open the controller test screen and leave the sticks alone — any movement reported is drift.
- Check battery health against design capacity, not just that it charges.
- Test the microSD card reader with your own card.
- Peel back or look under any screen protector for scratches hidden beneath it.
