Mini PCs in Karachi
Buying mini pcs second-hand
A mini PC lives or dies on its cooling. There is very little air and very little metal inside, so a unit that has never been opened and cleaned will be throttling, and the difference between a good and a bad small machine is almost entirely how well it sheds heat under sustained load. Test it running something demanding for a while rather than trusting a short benchmark.
Check what is upgradeable before buying, because in this category the answer is often "nothing". Memory and storage are soldered in many models, and where they are not, the physical space limits what will fit. Confirm the memory type and the drive slots, and treat a fully-soldered unit as a fixed specification for its whole life.
What to check before you pay
- Run a sustained load and watch for thermal throttling.
- Confirm whether RAM and storage are socketed or soldered.
- Check the port selection against what you need — there is rarely room to add more.
- Listen to the fan at full load; small fans get loud.
