Motherboards in Islamabad

Buying motherboards second-hand

A motherboard cannot prove anything about itself without a processor in it, which makes it the hardest component on this site to verify remotely. A board that posts is a board that works; a board that has never been powered in front of you is a claim. Wherever possible, see it boot before paying — with any CPU at all, even a borrowed one.

Beyond that, the physical inspection matters more here than anywhere else. Bulging or leaking capacitors, a bent socket pin, a snapped retention clip or scorching near the power delivery are all visible and all disqualifying. Check the rear I/O and the board's own listed BIOS versions against the CPU you intend to run, because an older board may need an update before it will accept a newer chip.

What to check before you pay

  • See it POST with a CPU installed — this is the only real test.
  • Inspect every socket pin under light, and the capacitors for bulging or residue.
  • Confirm the BIOS revision supports your processor generation.
  • Count the slots and headers you actually need: RAM, M.2, SATA, fan and USB.
