UPS units in Islamabad
Buying ups units second-hand
With a UPS, the battery is the product. The electronics rarely fail; the battery always does, typically within three to five years, and a unit sold as working may well hold charge for ninety seconds under real load. Ask the battery's age directly, and treat a unit with an unknown or original battery as a chassis you are buying at battery-replacement cost.
Given load shedding, this is a category where the thing you are protecting against is routine rather than rare, so runtime under a real load matters more than the headline VA rating. Ask the seller to plug in something meaningful, pull the mains, and time how long it actually lasts. That number is the only one that counts.
What to check before you pay
- Ask the battery's age and whether it has ever been replaced.
- Test real runtime under a real load by pulling the mains, not by reading the rating.
- Check for swelling or leakage on the battery, and a burnt smell from the unit.
- Confirm the output sockets and waveform suit what you intend to run.
