Used webcams in Pakistan

Buying webcams second-hand

Test a webcam in bad light, not good light. Almost any camera looks acceptable in daylight; the difference between a good and a poor one shows up in a dim room, where a weak sensor produces a noisy, smeared, low-frame-rate image. Ask for a sample recorded in normal indoor evening lighting.

Check autofocus and the microphone separately. A camera that hunts for focus constantly is more distracting than one with none at all, and built-in microphones vary enormously. Confirm the mounting clip fits your monitor, and check driver support if the model is old.

What to check before you pay

  • View a sample in dim indoor light, not daylight.
  • Watch the autofocus settle on a face and stay there rather than hunting.
  • Test the built-in microphone separately from the video.
  • Check the clip fits your monitor and the model still has driver support.
